On Thursday 26 October, the Energy Bill received Royal Assent and is now the Energy Act 2023. In a release on the same day, the government said that the Energy Act will transform the UK’s energy system by strengthening energy security, supporting the delivery of net zero and ensuring household bills are affordable in the long-term.
On Wednesday 21 June, Ofgem published a consultation on funding the transition to the Future System Operator (FSO). The consultation is seeking views on Ofgem’s funding proposals for cost recovery mechanisms that will allow for the Electricity System Operator (ESO), National Grid (NG) and National Gas Transmission (NGT) to recover efficient and economic costs incurred from activities related to the transition to the FSO.

On Thursday 17 November, Ofgem published its decision to require the Future System Operator (FSO) to deliver a new electricity transmission network planning output: a Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP).
