National Grid ESO announced on Wednesday 9 August that, in collaboration with UK Power Networks (UKPN) and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), it is delivering a new Distributed Energy Resource (DER) specific ancillary service, “MW Dispatch Service”.

On Thursday 27 July, National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) published its response letter proceeding the Electricity Storage Network’s (ESN’s) open letter calling for reforms to the Balancing Mechanism (BM).
On Friday 14 July, Ofgem published an open letter emphasising the importance of the Open Networks Project (ONP) for unlocking flexibility.
On Wednesday 28 June, the REA (Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology) published its Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) report, Enabling a secure, flexible, and decarbonised electricity market fit for the future.
Following Ofgem’s recent call for input on the future of distributed flexibility, on Wednesday 10 May Regen published its response, outlining four key recommendations.
On Friday 28 April, the BEIS Committee published its Eleventh Report – Decarbonisation of the power sector, highlighting that “at the current pace of change, the UK is set to fail to hit its target of decarbonising the power sector by 2035.”
